Connecting the Arctic

The IRSA Development Group

The IRSA Development Group (IDG) is a multinational collaboration among six Arctic/Antarctic nations and world-leading innovators in advanced technologies for the polar-regions. IDG is a consortium consisting of Andøya Space Center, Boeing, C-Core, Karl Osen, MDSI, Scott Polar Research Institute, Viasat, and VTT. IDG is developing a persistent monitoring system for the Arctic regions called IRSA (Integrated Remote Sensing for the Arctic). The objective of IRSA is a persistent monitoring system for the Arctic regions.

Andøya Space Center

Andøya Space is a service provider for sounding rockets, balloons, Spaceport services and scientific ground-based instrumentation communities worldwide. Located in northern Norway, it is the world’s northernmost permanent launch facility for sounding rockets, with over 60 years of operations and launch of more than 1200 sounding rockets since 1962. Andøya Space is owned 90 % by the Norwegian Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries and 10 % by Kongsberg Defence and Aerospace. Andøya Space has four subsidiaries; Andøya Space Defence (ASD), Andøya Spaceport (ASX), Andøya Space Education (ASE) and Andøya Space Sub-Orbital (ASO). Andøya Space is ISO-9001 certified.
