Integrated Remote Sensing for the Arctic

Integrated Remote Sensing for the Arctic (IRSA) is a dual-use System of Systems optimized for remote sensing data acquisition and decision support analytics, communications and augmented navigation for the Arctic.

The system of systems platforms integrate satellite, high and medium altitude long-endurance piloted aircraft including optionally piloted aircraft and sea-surface and subsea platforms for remote sensing or communications missions.

The IRSA network integrates existing and near term remote sensing and communications satellite constellations. Remote sensing missions, new space missions, and near term launches with innovative radar and E/O sensors provide higher resolutions and higher revisits for a dynamic environment.

The IRSA network utlizes four types of aircraft:
(1) High Altitude Long Endurance UAS (HALE)
(2) Medium Altitude Long Endurance UAS (MALE)
(3) Optionally Piloted Aircraft (OPA)
(4) Small UAS.

Ground Station

IRSA ground stations provide real time downlinking capabilities for fast turnaround of remote sensing data into information products. With two ground stations in Canada and a global partner network, IDG can access most civil remote sensing missions.
